J.F. Cooper is an American demolition expert when he visits his best friend Harry whom is smuggling arms to a fictitious Latin American country to the country's rebels, and Harry invites Cooper to tag along with him. When Harry is murdered by foreign mercenaries, led by a brutal assassin-for-hire named Kennedy, Cooper seeks his revenge by murdering Kennedy, assuming his identity, and after reclaiming the stolen arms, assumes Kennedy's name and identity, and joins the rebel freedom fighters in their war against the oppressive totalitarian government. John Smith is an amoral gunslinger in the days of Prohibition. On the lam from his latest (unspecified) exploits, he happens upon the town of Jericho, Texas. Actually, calling Jericho a town would be too generous--it has become more like a ghost town, since two warring gangs have 'driven off all the decent folk.' Smith sees this as an opportunity to play both sides off against each other, earning himself a nice piece of change as a hired gun. Shep Ramsey is an interstellar hero, righting wrongs, etc. His ship is damaged after a fight with an interstellar nasty and he must hide out on Earth until it can recharge. He leaves his power suit at home, but still finds himself unable to allow wrongs to go unrighted and so mixes it up with bad drivers, offensive paperboys, muggers and the like.
